  • Flop stage — You’re hoping to improve on the turn.
  • Turn stage — You’re hoping to improve on the river.
Once the river is dealt, there are no more cards to come—so there’s nothing left to calculate. That’s why the “Calculate” button is disabled at the river stage.

  • Mathematically, your outs can hit on either of the next two cards, so your total chance of improving is higher than just the turn odds.
